Digital Image Colorimery System

Volt and Current Measurement and Control unit for LoRa IoT

Digital Image Colorimery System

 A Chemical Engineering Research laboratory commissioned the Digital Image Colorimery System at a tertiary institution to monitor changes in electrode surface during electrochemical processes by in-situ digital video recording.

The use case for the project was to demonstrate the relationship between an electrochemical process taking place, and the evolution of standard RED, GREEN and BLUE (sRGB) intensity channels extracted from the digital images.

The system enables researchers to take an image of an electrochemical process in real-time over a period of time. The images are subsequently analysed to determine the absorbancy of the specific solution under investigation.

Due to the availability of a huge selection of relevant libraries, notably OpenCV, PIL and Matplotlib, the system was developed in Python.

Language: Python

Platform: Desktop, Windows

Mobile Site Survey Application

Volt and Current Measurement and Control unit for LoRa IoT

Digital Image Colorimery System

The Mobile Site Survey Application was developed for a cellular service provider that has extensive infrastructure distributed over large geographical areas.

The use case for the development was to enable field technicians to do a comprehensive, guided, questionnaire-based survey of a site with regards to the physical, electrical and transmission infrastructure and assets at that particular site.

The data is uploaded to a central database where it is centrally analysed for asset management and maintenance scheduling purposes.

Language: Magic XPA

Volt and Current Measurement and Control unit for LoRa IoT

Volt and Current Measurement and Control unit for LoRa IoT

The Volt and Current Measurement and Control unit for LoRa IoT was developed for a startup specialising in long-range, low power, wide area network Internet-of-Things solutions.

The project’s main purpose is to measure, monitor, and control potential differences and currents of remote equipment. The measurements and control commands are transmitted over Long Range Radio (LoRa) network to an internet-based monitor and control system.

IDE Systems developed the embedded software for deployment on Atmel processors to perform the above functions accurately.

Language: C++

Platform: Atmel

Trade Robot for Pair Trading

The Trade Robot for Pair Trading is a highly sophisticated automated trading system developed for a private client.

The use case for the system is based on the client’s proprietary trading algorithm.

The system monitors very specific trading trends and fluctuations, and based on a set of conditions, automatically takes long and/or short positions on the trading market. This happens independently of client input 24/7, obviously conditional to predefined rules.

Language: Python

Platform: Desktop, Windows

Embedded Application for Laboratory Timer

The Embedded Application for Laboratory Timer entailed the development of an embedded system to regulate stop/start timing cycles of chemical processes.

Although commercial times could be used, the brief was for the development of a one-button, intuitive system.

For this reason, a menu-driven embedded system was developed, controlled by a single rotary encoder with a 2-line LCD, that takes the user through a set of well-formulated menus to set the required timer cycles.

Language: C++

Platform: Atmel

Chemical Agitator

The Chemical Agitator is an example of our product development capabilities.

The agitator was developed to agitate chemical solutions at a specific rate in a controlled environment.

Design and prototyping of the agitator involved several aspects such as designing and building of the electronic components and manufacturing of all the metal and plastic parts.

The latter required different processes and technologies i.e. 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC bending and CNC milling to name a few.
